FAIREST OF THE FAIR
The role as the Iowa County Fairest of the Fair is to promote the Iowa County Fair leading up to the fair and to be the official hostess of the Fair over Labor Day Weekend. It is a one year, one time only position.
Throughout his or her reign, the Iowa County Fairest of the Fair participates in county parades, creates radio spots with local radio stations, competes for Wisconsin State Fairest of the Fairs at the State Convention in January, and makes appearances at county events to further promote the Fair (such as the Iowa County Dairy Breakfast).
We select our fairest in May, a year before his or her reign starts, following interviews of the applicants. This young lady or gentleman then spends the summer shadowing and helping the current fairest. This opportunity allows the upcoming fairest to see what being Fairest of the Fair entails while gaining experience and ideas for his or her reign. This process ensures that he or she will be well-prepared as Fairest and at the State Convention.
Fairest of the Fair is a scholarship program that also provides young ladies and gentleman with the opportunity to enhance their public speaking and interviewing skills; interact with the community; meet leaders of the agriculture and fair industry; and make lifelong friends with other county fairests from around Wisconsin.
